Life In My Hood - Croydon

By Chloë Ball

In this episode of the cool neighbourhood video blog series Life In My Hood, local mum Chloë Ball shows us around her part of the suburb of Croydon.

Just to the northwest of the Adelaide CBD, Croydon boasts a selection of trendy cafés, delightful gift shops and organic groceries. But best of all, the train station underpass is a walk-through art gallery for graffiti.

Chloë’s video neighbourhood guide to Croydon centres on Elizabeth Street (which the locals call Queen Street), as she lets us know about where to get the best coffee in Croydon, something fun to do and the best cheap eats in Croydon.

MY HOOD

“Croydon is a great place to live - trendy cafes and shops, about 5km from the city and 11km to Semaphore. Beautiful character homes and amazing parks, a great place to spend a sunny arvo.”

COFFEE IN MY HOOD

Chloë says you'll find the best coffee in Croydon at:
Bruncherie, 10 Rosetta Street

“From here it's a lovely walk along the train line under the trees. Don't forget to try a DELICIOUS pastry!”

GROCERIES IN MY HOOD

For the best groceries in Croydon, Chloë recommends:
Little Green Grocer, 547 Port Road

“This place is choc-a-block with organic goodness.”

HANGING IN MY HOOD

Especially for those with kids, Chloë says the best thing to do in Croydon is to head to the Croydon Playground Reserve.

“Located right next to Elizabeth Street. Great for a take-away lunch first, then rest under the trees while the kids play on the fantastic train themed playground.”

GIFTS IN MY HOOD

For the best gifts in Croydon, Chloë says you can't go past:
Oscar and Willow, 20 Elizabeth Street.

“Awesome range of candles and scents, homewares and gifts, something for everyone.”

EATING IN MY HOOD

If you're looking for the best cheap eats in Croydon, Chloë's pick is:
Red Door Bakery, 22 Elizabeth Street

“This place is an Adelaide institution - don't forget to try a pork and sage sausage roll.”
